Originally built in 1808 and rebuilt in 1904 after a fire, the Middletown, Ohio Baptist Church was dismantled stone by stone in 2014 and shipped in crates to Bee Cave, Texas. The historical and deteriorating condition of the structure presented a number of technical and logistical challenges. In order to ensure proper reconstruction, a 3-D laser scan was conducted of the existing structure. The laser point cloud model was then imported into BIM software for the reconstruction and technical documents.
The church is slated to be reconstructed as a boutique retail space that will house the eclectic furniture and refurbishment shops of Revival Texas. The new design will also feature leasable retail spaces below the main sanctuary as well as an outdoor courtyard and deck for special events.
ResErections Inc. of Ohio, who specialize in relocation of historical structures, lead the logistics for deconstruction and shipping.
